How To Merge PDF Files in Nitro PRO

In this quick, hands-on guide, I’ll show you how to merge PDF files using Nitro Pro. It’s a fast, simple workflow that keeps your documents organised, whether you’re preparing reports, combining forms, or stitching together multiple pages for sharing. If you don’t already have Nitro Pro, you can download a free trial from Nitro’s website and follow along.

What You’ll Need

  • Nitro Pro is installed on your PC (trial or full version).
  • The PDF files you want to combine are saved locally.
  • A destination folder to save the merged PDF.

Step-by-Step: Merge PDFs with Nitro Pro

1. Open Nitro Pro

Launch Nitro Pro from your desktop or Start menu. Once the app is open, you’ll be ready to access the merge tools.

2. Locate the Create & Combine option

On the main screen, look for the “Create and Combine” option. You can also find a similar “Combine” command in the top menu bar — both open the same interface for joining files.

3. Add the files you want to merge

Click the “Add Files” button and select the PDF documents from your computer. You can select multiple files at once.

4. Arrange the order

Before you merge, arrange the files in the order you want them to appear in the final document. Just drag and drop each file into place — the sequence here becomes the page order in the merged PDF.

5. Create the merged PDF

When you’re happy with the order, click the “Create” button. Nitro Pro will prompt you to choose a save location and file name for the new merged PDF. Pick a folder, name the file, and save.

6. Make post-merge edits if needed

After the merge is complete, you can still rearrange pages or make edits. Use Nitro Pro’s page management tools to move pages, delete unwanted pages, or rotate them as required.

Quick Tips and Best Practices

  • Keep file names descriptive before merging so you can easily identify documents during reordering.
  • If some PDFs are scanned images and you need searchable text, run OCR in Nitro Pro before or after merging.
  • Large files may take a few moments to process — give Nitro Pro time to combine everything, especially with dozens of pages.
  • Save a copy of the originals in case you need to revert changes or extract pages later.

Troubleshooting

  • If the “Add Files” dialog won’t accept a file, check that the PDF isn’t open in another program.
  • Corrupted PDFs may fail to merge — try opening them individually to confirm integrity.
  • If Nitro Pro crashes or behaves unexpectedly during combining, restart the app and try adding fewer files at once.
