VAT Registration & Filing Services in Dubai
VAT in the UAE is simple in principle and easy to get wrong in practice. A missed registration deadline, a wrong tax code or a late return can all lead to penalties from the Federal Tax Authority (FTA). AVANA Solutions handles VAT registration, VAT return filing and ongoing VAT compliance for businesses in Dubai and across the UAE, so you stay compliant without spending your time on EmaraTax.
Your VAT is handled by our ACCA- and UAECA-qualified team, and our tax package starts from AED 750 per quarter, covering both VAT and corporate tax registration and filing.
Our VAT Services
- VAT registration: we check whether you need to register, prepare your documents and submit your application on EmaraTax until you receive your Tax Registration Number (TRN)

Do You Need to Register for VAT?
UAE VAT applies at a standard rate of 5%. Whether you must register depends on the value of your taxable supplies and imports:
- Mandatory registration: required once your taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the past 12 months, or are expected to exceed it in the next 30 days.
- Voluntary registration: available once your taxable supplies, imports or taxable expenses exceed AED 187,500. This can make sense if you want to recover input VAT on your costs.
Registering late can lead to a penalty, so if you’re close to the threshold, talk to us early. Our complete UAE VAT registration guide explains the requirements and process in detail.
VAT Return Filing in Dubai
Most businesses file VAT returns quarterly, and some are assigned monthly tax periods. Returns and any VAT due must reach the FTA by the 28th day of the month after your tax period ends.
We prepare each return from your bookkeeping records, reconcile output and input VAT, check zero-rated and exempt supplies, and review reverse-charge transactions on imports. You approve the figures before we submit. See our step-by-step VAT filing guide or our free UAE VAT return template in Excel.
Common VAT Mistakes We Fix
- Claiming input VAT on expenses that aren’t recoverable, such as certain entertainment costs. Read our guide to non-recoverable input VAT.
- Issuing invoices that don’t meet the FTA’s tax invoice requirements. Learn the difference between simplified and full tax invoices.
- Treating exempt supplies as zero-rated, or the other way round
- Missing reverse-charge VAT on imported goods and services
- Filing or paying late, which leads to penalties. See VAT penalties in the UAE and how to avoid them.
Because most VAT errors start in the books, our bookkeeping services in Dubai and VAT filing work best together.

VAT FAQs
How long does VAT registration take in the UAE?
Once your application is complete, the FTA usually reviews it within a few weeks, although it may ask for more information. Submitting a complete, accurate application the first time is the best way to avoid delays.
When are UAE VAT returns due?
VAT returns and payments are due by the 28th day of the month after the end of each tax period. Most businesses have quarterly tax periods.
Do free zone companies need to register for VAT?
Yes. Free zone companies follow the same registration rules as mainland businesses. Some free zones are designated zones, where special VAT rules apply to certain movements of goods, and we’ll check whether these affect you.
Can you file overdue VAT returns or fix past mistakes?
Yes. We prepare and file overdue returns and correct past errors through voluntary disclosures, which generally leads to lower penalties than waiting for the FTA to find them.
Can I deregister from VAT?
You can apply to deregister if you stop making taxable supplies or your turnover falls below the voluntary threshold. Read our VAT deregistration guide, or ask us to handle it for you.
